THENGA CHORU (Malabar coconut rice pulav))


  • Boiled rice 500 gms
  • Fenugreek seed (uluva) 2 tsp
  • Shallott (small onion) 100 gms
  • Grated coconut flakes 1 cups
  • Salt 1 tsp
  • Water 5 cups


Chopp shallots and coconut into small pieces

Add water, rice, shallots, uluva in a big pot and heat

Add coconut flakes when it become boil and put flame in very low position

Stir frequently when water evaporating and also close air tightly

When rice is cook well, switch off flame.

Now the traditional Malabar nostalgic THENGA CHORU is ready for serving
